The NUTRI-SENSE research project is investigating how the wishes and needs of residents in care homes can be better taken into account when it comes to nutrition and hydration - particularly in the context of social and cultural diversity.
Project manager Prof Dr Martina Hasseler says: "Caring for older people requires individually tailored nutrition and fluid intake measures in order to maintain health and reduce the need for care. It is particularly challenging to take cultural diversity and social inequalities into account, which have so far been insufficiently addressed in existing care guidelines."
The aim of the researchers is to develop digital applications that support carers and other professional groups in care facilities in providing culturally sensitive and diversity-conscious care.
Nursing professionals, nursing assistants, care assistants, care home managers, relatives and residents of care facilities are now being sought for the research interviews.
